Cavaliers team to face Welwitchias
VETERAN lock Johannes (Hanno) Kitshoff will earn his 50th Boland Cavaliers cap in Saturday’s Currie Cup match against the Welwitschias at the Boland Stadium in Wellington.
The 32-year old Kitshoff, a product of Worcester Gymnasium and a player who came through Boland’s age-group and club rugby structures, has been a stalwart for the Cavaliers ever-since he joined the professional team in 2012.
While Saturday will be a memorable day for Kitshoff on a personal note, he will be the first player to shy away from the spotlight and would rather concentrate on the team’s immediate goal, which is to beat the Welwitschias .
The Cavaliers are enjoying a superb season and a spot in the Currie Cup Premier Division is very much a reality at the moment. A win on Saturday will further strengthen their overall position (2nd) on the Currie Cup log.
More good news for Boland is the return of their evergreen hooker Clemen Lewis. Lewis, who boasts 134 caps for the Cavaliers, has been included on the replacements bench after being sidelined this entire season due to a groin injury.
CURRIE CUP U.20 COMPETITION:
In a curtain raiser for the Boland Cavaliers vs Welwitchias match on Saturday, the Boland U.20 side will face the Griffons U.20’s in a Currie Cup U.20’s match.
Both teams are still undefeated in this year’s competition, with the Griffons in first place on the log (four wins from four matches) and Boland second (three wins from three matches).
