Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens – Survival guide
How to Survive the CellC Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens tournament
You’ve made the best decision of the year and secured tickets for the Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens Tournament now what?
Pre Event Prep
If the shock and FOMO (fear of missing out) is running through your body right now due to not actually holding your tickets yet, fortunately, tickets are still available from R50 at all Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers outlets in South Africa, through Computicket’s online store.
Now you need to know what part of the stadium is the best suited to you. The tournament is best experienced at maximum excitement in the ‘Sin Bin’. This is the South Stand of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and will be pumping with special festive vibes for two days with the likes of Jeremy Loops, Crazy White Boy, the Aggreko Dynamos, as well as the excitable radio DJ’s Guy McDonald and Ryan O’Connor, will be going huge on entertainment, backed up by DJ Sox on the decks, between the action-packed rugby.
How to prepare the weeks leading into the event:
• Watch TV with volume just below maximum all week to get ears used to the decibels.
• Enjoy an early morning beer (or two) to help contribute to your aptitude on game day.
• Become even more familiar with the super cool Springbok Sevens team so you can belt out support for the team.
On The Day
• Exercise: Don’t overdo it – a gentle stroll to the stadium should be sufficient.
• Sunblock and a safe ride home are going to be your play-of-the-day, so make sure these are taken care of first thing
• Know the schedule so you don’t miss the action when the Blitzbokke are in action.
• Make sure Monday’s work is taken care of by Friday and be fully committed in every aspect for Saturday and Sunday – then take a sickey, but don’t tell the boss we suggested this one.
• Download a phone finding app – just in case.
What to wear
• By now you should have at least an idea of what you will be wearing. If not, make the decision now and don’t wait till last minute.
• All animals – Where’s Waldo?, Smurfs, Super Heroes, Nurses, Cowboys, Indians, Cartoon Characters and anything colourful, wild, fun and creative – will contribute to the event and make you a part of the spectacle.
• Make or order your party suit early and test the comfort. Your performance needs to be measured over many hours of fun so take this into account.
Be ready for a try every 70 seconds, beer, babes, cup snakes, DJ’s, live acts and the most festive summer rugby fun you can imagine. Whatever you do, don’t miss out – #ItsGoTime
