Rugby fans can now book their seats to watch the spectacular action at the annual Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens in Port Elizabeth in December following the opening of ticket sales.

Tickets for the popular tournament, to be held on the weekend of 7-8 December 2013 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, are available at all Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers outlets in South Africa, as well as online.

The tournament is the third destination in the competitive 2013/14 HSBC Sevens World Series, and follows a week after the Emirates Dubai Sevens.  The Gold Coast Sevens in Australia will kick-start the season on 12 – 13 October. Last season, the Springbok Sevens finished second on the World Series log behind New Zealand after winning three tournament titles.

Due to of the very affordable ticket prices, the organisers of the Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens expect a surge for tickets, and they have therefore urged supporters to book their admission early to avoid disappointment.

The Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens tournament is the only occasion where South Africans are able to watch the Springbok Sevens on home soil. The home team will be amongst the sixteen teams who will battle it out for the coveted trophy on display as well as the important World Series points on offer.

From as little as R50 a ticket, supporters would be able to witness the Springbok Sevens live in action against 15 other international teams at the iconic Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

According to SARU CEO, Jurie Roux, the South African rugby authorities and various event partners are working hard to deliver another world-class Sevens tournament.

“The Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens tournament has established itself as one of the standout tournaments on the World Series calendar and SARU are once more looking forward to hosting the world’s best Sevens players in Port Elizabeth,” said Roux.

“Our marketing team and various stakeholders have joined forces to compile a top-class entertainment programme for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of rugby action. Apart from the excitement on the field, fans will also be able to enjoy a free concert on the Saturday evening,” added Roux.

“There will also be opportunities to meet the Springbok Sevens squad as well as members of the other participating teams during signing sessions, coaching clinics and various open training sessions.”

More details of the marketing and PR campaigns, confirmed artists and a unique tournament social media platform, which will include a dedicated tournament Microsite jam-packed with event information, will be unveiled shortly.
