Change in venue for Vodacom Cup game against Western Province
The Eastern Province Rugby Union has moved the game between the Eastern Province Kings and the Western Province from the Zwide Stadium to the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University stadium.
“Following an inspection of the stadium this morning, we discovered that criminal elements had recently broken into the stadium and vandalised the change rooms, stealing water pipes, taps and an assortment of other fixtures,” said EPRU interim CEO, Charl Crous.
Crous said that due to the extent of the damage, it was deemed improbable that the venue would be up to standard to host the match in time for Friday night’s clash, and the decision was made to move the game to the NMMU stadium instead.
“We also want to take this opportunity to thank the University for making their facilities available to us on such short notice,” he said.
Crous also encouraged Nelson Mandela Bay residents to come out and support the team.
“Tickets for the game are only R10 a person and we would really like to encourage everyone to come down and support the EP Kings as they take on Western Province,” he said.
Kickoff is at 7pm on Friday night, the 22nd of March 2013. Tickets will be available at the gate at R10 per person.
