Cloete back in SA ‘A’ squad for French Barbarians
Southern Kings flank Chris Cloete has been drafted back into the SA ‘A’ team following Jean-Luc du Preez’s elevation to the Springbok squad.
Du Preez, who was invited to train with the Springboks at their training camp in Plettenberg Bay last week, will now remain with the squad throughout the Castle Lager Incoming Series after Duane Vermeulen was forced to withdraw from the 31-man group with a shoulder injury.
Cloete, who is contracted to the Steval Pumas but on loan to the Southern Kings for Vodacom Super Rugby, is currently suspended and was replaced in the SA ‘A’ squad by Ruan Ackermann. He will now join the squad again when they get together in Durban today, but will not be available for the first match, next Friday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Earlier, Seabelo Senatla and Lwazi Mvovo had been drafted into the SA ‘A’ squad in place of Jamba Ulengo (injured) and Lionel Mapoe (called up to the Springbok squad) respectively.
