Crusaders elect new Chairman
Grant Jarrold has been elected the new Chairman of the Crusaders. Mr Jarrold said he was looking forward to stepping up to the role of Crusaders Chairman and continuing to contribute to the organisation.
“I am passionate about this team and have enjoyed being involved as a Board member since 2012. This is a Board, a team and an organisation full of quality, committed people, so it is an honour to assume the role of Chairman for the Crusaders,” Mr Jarrold said.
“There are plenty of new opportunities for the Crusaders this season and in the future. The thrill our supporters, sponsors and community get from being connected with and watching the Crusaders is as strong now as it has been over the past 20 years. I am keen to ensure we keep striving for improvement and success and play our part in building stronger community spirit across the whole Crusader region and the worldwide fan base” Mr Jarrold said.
Mr Jarrold also paid tribute to former Crusaders Chairman Murray Ellis, who stepped aside in December after fifteen years on the board and seven as Chairman.
“Murray did a fantastic job as Crusaders Chairman. He oversaw significant change within the organisation and has passed over an outstanding professional rugby team, a powerful brand and business for us to keep building on”
Crusaders CEO Hamish Riach said Mr Jarrold was unanimously elected as Chairman and will bring valuable experience to the role.
“Grant has been the Chairman of the Canterbury Rugby Football Union for the last year and has proven himself to be an exceptionally able leader. He has valuable business experience as a Partner in Deloitte Private. Grant has the respect of his fellow Board members and of the organisation as a whole. We know that he will do a great job,” Mr Riach said.
The Crusaders Board has also established a new position of Deputy Chairman, to assist the Chairman with the various roles and workloads. Nick Patterson from Nelson (the regional provincial unions’ nominated director) has been unanimously elected to that role. Mr Patterson is a former Chairman for the Tasman Rugby Football Union.
