Crusaders Knights team to play Highlanders Development team
Crusaders Knights coach Joe Maddock has named a team stacked with Super Rugby talent to play its final game of the season against the Highlanders Development team tomorrow. With the BNZ Crusaders on a bye, a number of Super Rugby players have been named in the line-up.
BNZ Crusaders dominate the forwards, with Alex Hodgman, Ged Robinson and Michael Alaalatoa in the front row and Luke Romano and Mitchell Dunshea at lock. Matt Todd will make his return from injury at number 7, alongside fellow BNZ Crusaders loose forward Pete Samu.
BNZ Crusaders halfback Mitchell Drummond, first five Mitchell Hunt, winger Johnny McNicholl and fullback Marty McKenzie add their experience to the Knights backline.
“It will be great for some of our young guys to line up beside a number of Super Rugby players this weekend and benefit from their experience,” Maddock said. “We have got some players in this Crusaders Knights squad who are probably on the cusp of earning a Super Rugby contract within the next couple of years and I am sure they will relish this opportunity to lift their game to that standard and show that they are ready for the next step up.”
The game will kick off at 1pm tomorrow (Saturday 12 March) at the Pleasant Point Rugby Club.
