WP remains the only unbeaten team in the early stage of the 2010 ABSA Currie Cup and dislodges the Lions from the top of the log.

In a very cold Bloemfontein the Free State Cheetahs got their campaign back on track with a convincing 33-26 win over the Griquas. They outscored the Griquas five tries to two, which included a hat-trick from Coenie “Shrek” Oosthuizen. The FS Cheetahs let the Griquas sneak in a bonus point right at the end with poor discipline.
Saturday, 17 July, 15h00
In Witbank, Elgar Watts from the Pumas single-handedly took down the Leopards from North West. He scored 27 of his side’s 37 points, including a hat-trick of tries, three conversions and two penalties to seal a 37-32 victory. The Leopards put up a good fight but remain without a win after two rounds.
Saturday, 17 July, 15h00
WP continued their impressive form to shut the Lions out at Newlands in Cape Town. Willem de Waal slotted five penalties and one conversion to sink the Lions 32-0. Even with more possession in the second-half the Lions could not break WP’s solid defence. WP might ask themselves how they failed to score four tries and claim a bonus point against a poor Lions team.
Saturday, 17 July, 17h00
And in spectacle of a game, the Sharks overpowered the Blue Bulls in Durban to get their season back on track. Keegan Daniel and Lwazi Mvovo both scored a double as they defeated the Blue Bulls 34-28. The Blue Bulls could only manage a converted Gerhard vd Heever try right on the hooter to take at least a bonus point back to Pretoria.
Next weekend will see Sharks host the Pumas in Durban. (Friday, 23 July, 19h00)
Western Province face the Leopards in Potchefstroom. (Friday, 23 July, 19h00)
Griquas host an injured Lions side in Kimberly. (Saturday, 24 July, 15h00)
And the FS Cheetahs travel to Pretoria where they face the Blue Bulls. (Saturday, 24 July, 17h00)
