Currie Cup Team Announcement: Toyota Free State Cheetahs vs Western Province
On Saturday, 9 September the Toyota Free State Cheetahs will be taking on Western Province at Newlands in Cape Town. Kick-off is at 15:00.
While flyhalf, Ernst Stapelberg will be making his Currie Cup debut for the Toyota Free State Cheetahs, the experienced JW Jonker will be playing in his 50th Currie Cup game for the Toyota Free State Cheetahs on Saturday. Jonker has earned 96 Currie Cup caps during his career. He represented the Toyota Free State Cheetahs from 2006 to 2010 in 45 matches (11 tries) and again in 2017 in 4 matches. In 2010 the played in four Currie Cup matches for the Griffons (6 tries), represented the Pumas from 2011 to 2014 in 38 matches (14 tries) and the Griquas in 5 games (2 tries) in 2016.
The referee for the game is AJ Jacobs. He will be assisted by Marius van der Westhuizen and Divan Uys. The TMO is Shaun Veldsman.
SA Rugby Under 19 and 21 Championship
The Toyota Free State Cheetahs u.19 and u.21 teams will be facing their counterparts from Western Province on Friday, 8 September at the Old Grey’s Sportsground in Bloemfontein. Kick-off times for the respective matches are 13:00 and 14:45.
