Double the impact, own the Force and save rugby in WA
The RugbyWA Board, the Western Force players, and the entire organization is thrilled to acknowledge the recent involvement of Mr. Andrew Forrest AO and the “Own the Force – Double the Impact” campaign that launched this morning.
The “Own the Force – Double the Impact” potentially allows Road Safety Western Force and WA rugby fans to buy shares in Western Force Owners Limited (WFOL) via Mr. Forrest’s offer of an interest-free loan of up to $1,000 per potential investor.
The money from this loan is to be used by potential investors to purchase a share in WFOL and the shareholder will then repay their loan, over time, directly to RugbyWA. This essentially means rugby in Western Australia may receive up to $2,000 per investor, potentially doubling the monetary injection into Rugby in Western Australia.
RugbyWA Chairman of the Board Tony Howarth says the offer from Mr. Forrest is incredibly generous but also shows Mr. Forrest’s commitment to the future of rugby in Western Australia.
“Andrew’s involvement in our fight for survival has been exactly the boost we needed,” he said. “Rugby in Western Australia is doing everything it can to secure the future of the Road Safety Western Force and Mr. Forrest’s involvement is greatly appreciated.”
Mr. Howarth says he has a message to the Australian Rugby Union that WA rugby is here to stay.
“It’s time to show the Sydney-based ARU that the Western Australian community and Force supporters everywhere are a force to be reckoned with.”
“Now is the time to support the “Own the Force” campaign with the boost given by Andrew Forrest which not only provides loans to support the purchase of a share in the Force but returns funds to WA Community rugby to further support the game at the grass roots level.”
Mr. Forrest said today that the Own the Force campaign is integral to the future of the game in WA and something he firmly stands behind.
”I wholeheartedly believe in this unique way at promoting community participation and doubling the benefit for the cause.”
Mr. Forrest then went on to say that the survival of this team is of greater importance than a weekend match, and the people of Western Australia will not go down without a fight.
“This is bigger than just a rugby game. I stand behind all of these amazing people who believe in a fair go and the right for Australians to support rugby union as a national sport, not just one reduced to the eastern seaboard.”
