Eagles eyeing third win in Absa Currie Cup First Division
The SWD Eagles will travel to East London on Friday evening to face the Border Bulldogs looking for a third Absa Currie Cup First Division win following their 21-17 success over the Hino Valke in George.
The 19h00 clash is the only Friday fixture.
On Saturday, log leaders the Leopards host the second-placed Down Touch Griffons in a 14h30 kick-off at Profert Olën Park in Potchefstroom, while the Valke are at home against the Boland Cavaliers in a 15h00 start at the Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.
The Eagles notched up their second victory of the campaign last weekend at Outeniqua Park and they face a difficult away match against Border Bulldogs. The East London side are always a tough nut to crack at home and they will be determined to register their second win after coming close on a few occasions.
Current log leaders, the Leopards, meanwhile, are firm favourites against the Griffons as they have been menacing on attack and have amassed 299 points in seven matches so far. This included stacking up 43 tries, while conceding only 14. They are at the top of the standings with 35 league points after collecting the maximum points on offer in each match.
In turn the Griffons have collected 21 points from their seven fixtures thus far, and their defence will be under huge pressure against the free-scoring Leopards.
In Kempton Park the Valke will be eager to bounce back against Boland back after the 21-17 setback they suffered last weekend in George. The Valke are currently lying third with 19 points.
