England U16 record 34-0 victory over Wales
England U16 produced a comprehensive display to secure a 34-0 victory over Wales in Caerphilly on Sunday. Six tries and two conversions gave the young English side an impressive final score line with their opposition unable to get on the board. Scores came from across the English side with forwards and backs crossing the whitewash, while scrum-half Cameron Brown held the kicking duties. Commenting on the fixture, U16 head coach Stephen Shortland said: “The Welsh were very strong, so the score line probably isn’t reflective of the full eighty minutes. Up until half-time, they were on the front foot but we really stepped things up in the second half and pulled away in the final twenty. “It was a real team effort with the forwards and backs combining in open play, and scoring some fantastic tries. The decisions between those who had a starting spot and those on the bench were very marginal, so we saw a real impact with players coming on. We powered on even more with their contribution. “The players have developed in so many facets over the past few months and have been outstanding. Today is a great reward for all their efforts. It was the last weekend of this programme and I wanted them to really focus on those marginal gains that make them better players, and continue to build on their self-belief and confidence. I’m incredibly pleased with what I saw today.” Scorers: Ben Loader 1T; Sam Moore 1T; Cameron Brown 2C; Marcus Smith 1T; Ted Hill 1T; Nick David 1T; Tosin Seagun 1T England U16 (school/college, club, county) 1 Marcus Street (QE Crediton, Exeter Chiefs, Devon) Replacements 16 George Head (Tonbridge School, Harlequins, Surrey) |
