EP GRAND CHALLENGE WRAP
LOGLEADERS Despatch were given their hardest workout of the season when they secured a 19-12 victory over Harlequins in their EP Grand Challenge match on Saturday (May 30).
The rampant Despatch outfit have outclassed most opposition this season, but Harlequins sent out a message that even the best teams can be challenged and, even in a losing cause, the Quins will take heart for the rest of the season.
As expected, NMMU Madibaz faced a tough challenge in Uitenhage and suffered their third loss of the season when they went down to Gardens 22-17. Madibaz coach David Maidza last week warned how tough Gardens could be at the Rosedale venue and the Eastern Cape Super 12 runners-up showed their credentials on Saturday.
The results were: Despatch bt Harlequins 19-12, Gardens bt NMMU Madibaz 22-17, Brumbies bt Progress 30-19, Kruisfontein bt African Bombers 44-16, Trying Stars bt Crusaders 22-13, Park bt Windvogel 16-5.
