EP Kings show their support for Tekkie Tax Day
The Eastern Province Kings have put their best feet forward to show their support for national Tekkie Tax day and SOS Children’s Village Port Elizabeth.
SOS Children’s Villages is one of the national NGO’s that benefit from the Tekkie Tax initiative, which takes place tomorrow (SUBS: Friday, 30 May 2014.)
“This is a great initiative and we are proud to be able to show our support,” said EP Kings Head Coach, Carlos Spencer.
Depending on where their hearts lie, members of the public can choose any of the five sectors they would like to support when buying their sticker. The five sectors are Animals, Basic Family Care, Children, Disability or Education.
In their inaugural year last year, Tekkie Tax raised R2.4 million. More than 180 local welfare organisations benefited from the proceeds, which were all distributed in November last year.
People are encouraged to get their Tekkie Tax sticker and, whatever their outfit is for the day, they have to wear their tekkies!
The campaign is endorsed by 15 of South Africa’s biggest and most accountable national NGOs in the country, representing more than 1 000 local organisations.
