EPRU saddened by the loss of Leopards U19 Rugby player
The Eastern Province Rugby Union was deeply saddened to hear of the death of Leopards Under-19 player, Kwena Moremi, in a swimming accident in East London on Friday.
The loosehead prop was with his team-mates undertaking a “flush-out” session in the sea following the Leopards’ 19-16 win over Border. Moremi and others were reportedly caught in a rip tide, in which he was drowned. He was 18.
“Eastern Province Rugby would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Moremi’s family and friends, as well as to his team mates and everyone else at the Leopards who have been affected by this tragedy,” said EP Rugby CEO, Charl Crous.
Moremi was born in Kempton Park and attended the Rhodesfield High School from where he played Under-16 Grant Khomo Week rugby in two successive seasons. He matriculated from Louis Botha THS and represented Free State at the 2011 Coca-Cola Craven Week before joining the Leopards.
