Freedom Road Travel and the Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) have partnered together to strengthen the Queensland Rugby community.

Freedom Road Travel will provide members with exclusive offers and discounts on a range of travel services including packaged family holidays, hotels, cruises, coach tours and flights.

This partnership will be delivered through a dedicated Queensland Rugby online travel portal which will be launched in 2019.

QRU Head of Commercial Malcolm Watts said: “This partnership has the ability to provide value to our members and a much needed revenue stream to the clubs we represent.

“Our clubs rely heavily on volunteers to make them viable, we believe the travel portal will provide the Queensland clubs a revenue injection simply through the natural travelling habits of its members.”

The platform will be made available to members of the 240 Queensland clubs, with a contribution of every booking made going directly back to that club.

This will see both QRU members and fans able to book their own leisure accommodation as well as game-day travel.

Freedom Road Travel Director and Chief Operating Officer David Sumich said: “We wanted to really find a way to give back to the local teams and the grassroots clubs that have Rugby stars in the making.

“We’re excited not only to provide exclusive member discounts, but also be able to give clubs the boost they need.”

Freedom Road Travel Chief Technology Officer Maite Newell said: “The dedicated travel portal will allow members to book on the run, whether it’s for game day accommodation or their annual trip away.”
