Grey College rack up another half century
Grey College racked up another half century as they defeated Duineveld 57-6 in Upington on Suturday. The team from Bloemfontein also beat the Harmony Sportacademy of Virginia 55-16 last week. The star performer in the victorious team was scrumhalf Nicol Linde.
He was the star as Grey College’s dangerous backline shifted a gear and showed that they will be a force in this year’s schools rugby. Winger, Jan Serfontein, scored a hat trick of tries. He scored a brace in his first XV debut against the Harmony Sportacademy. Paul Jordaan (centre) scored a brace against Duineveld after playing only a half against the team from Virginia. Jordaan and Johan Goosen each played a half after both of them came back from injuries.
In the forwards Cravenweek eightman, Niel Jordaan and Tyrone Schultz (flanker) put in some strong performances. Duineveld’s only points came via the boot of outside centre, Johan Myburgh. The team from Bloemfontein’s next match is against EG Jansen at the Kearsney College Easter Festival.
Scorers:
Grey College 57 – Tries: Jan Serfontein 3, Paul Jordaan 2, Gerhard Olivier, Ruwellyn Isbell, Niel Marais. Conversions: Johan Goosen 6. Duineveld 6 – Penalties: Johan Myburgh.
