Griquas off to winning start in PE
GWK Griquas had a good start to their Vodacom Cup campaign by beating the EP Kings 27-19 in Port Elizabeth this afternoon Carel Greeff opened the scoring for the visiting team in the 15th minute. The Kings then hit back in the 18th minute with a try. The Kings then added to their score in the 26th minute with another try making the score 12-7 in their advantage. Gouws Prinsloo slotted over a penalty in the 30th minute to take the score to 12-10 before halftime. Griquas once again had the first points in the second half with another penalty from the boot of Gouws Prinsloo.With 18 minutes left the veteran Steph Roberts went over for the Kimberley boys 2nd try making the score 20-12 in Griquas favor 2 minutes later Scrumhalf Abrie Griesel went over for Griquas 3rd try. Griquas lost a player due to a yellow card and the Kings used this to their advantage to score in the 72nd minute making the score 27-19 in Griquas favor. Coach Peter Engledow will be happy with 4 away log points. Griquas will face SWD next Friday in George and it will once again be a hard one as the Eagles are on a high after beating the Cheetahs XV last night
