Handré Pollard starts for BabyBoks
Morgan Piek – Coach Dawie Theron has rung the changes in Cape Town ahead of the BabyBoks clash against Italy at the University of the Western Cape tomorrow night.
In all eleven changes have been made to team that will face Italy, as opposed to the team that lost against Ireland on Monday night. The changes are mainly rotational as there is a three day turnaround time between games.
The most notable change is that of Handré Pollard, who comes in at flyhalf in the place of Tony Jantjies who battled against the Irish on Monday. Pollard should be more stable and the wet weather currently wreaking havoc in Cape Town would suite the Local from Paarl.
Theron has opted to go for a heavier pack of forwards to stamp their totally domination against an Italian outfit who have a brilliant scrumhalf. Preventing the Azzuri backline from good ball is a key component to the BabyBoks success. The BabyBoks scrum will be pillared by the Western Province front duo of Steven Kisthoff and Oliver Kebble.
The Italians can tackle and they do it very well and by the book. Although there score line against the English would not suggest that.
It’s a vital game for the BabyBoks in order to progress to the knock-out stages of the competition. The BabyBoks have been hard at work on the breakdown and other elements of the game and have assured us they will be quicker and more competitive to the breakdown point.
By their own admission their captain Wiaan Liebenberg said the lads were a little emotional and the occasion was maybe a little too big for them at the time. Liebenberg believes I could have been a contributing factor to their loss. However, he also mentioned that it was no excuse.
They have assured us of a much better display come Friday night.
