The three-day carnival of Rugby Sevens will be played for the first time over the Australia Day weekend, offering fans from across the country and abroad the ultimate Rugby long weekend.

The best Men’s and Women’s Rugby sides from across the world will converge on Allianz Stadium, where every match across the three days will feature in the main stadium.

After “Going Global” and “Going Colourful” fans will be asked to get creative and “Go Extraordinary” as Sydney is encouraged to “GET YOUR GAME ON” and truly embrace the excitement of Australia’s slice of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

Tickets are available via Ticketek and the HSBC Sydney 7s official costume partner, Rubie’s is ready to deliver fans the best in “Extraordinary” costumes from www.costumesupercentre.com.au.

With the tournament now an integrated three-day Sevens carnival, fans can take advantage of the family friendly ticket pricing across the three days, including the excitement of Finals day on Sunday.

The Qantas Australian Men’s and Women’s Sevens teams will be looking to improve on their top four finishes in 2017 and win their home event for the first time.

Australian Rugby Union, CEO, Bill Pulver said: “After two incredible tournaments in 2016 and 2017, the HSBC Sydney 7s is now one of the must-see events on the international Rugby calendar.

“We are expecting the tournament to go up another notch by having it played across the Australia Day long weekend in 2018, giving many fans a unique Australia Day experience where they can get out and support our Men’s and Women’s Sevens teams as they take on the world right here on home soil.

“With a completely integrated tournament for both the Men’s and Women’s Series, Sydney is a world leader on the Sevens circuit and the Australian sports-loving public will be the beneficiary being able to watch the best Men’s and Women’s players from around the world in one place.”

NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said: “The Sydney 7s has been secured by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW. The 2017 event provided a huge boost to the local visitor economy, attracting more than 8,700 domestic and international overnight visitors to NSW, with a total visitor spend of over $6 million.

“The Sydney 7s promises to be bigger and better in 2018 and with the event falling on Australia Day weekend, what better way to celebrate than with the colour and action of the Sevens.”

Martin Tricaud, CEO, HSBC Australia said: “Rugby sevens continues to push the boundaries on and off the pitch and the 2018 tournament is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series calendar.

“HSBC Australia is proud to support the HSBC Sydney 7s and with three full days of integrated Men’s and Women’s fixtures and a range of activity in and around the stadium we are set for a memorable long weekend.”
