Hurricanes too strong for Force
The Hurricanes have demolished an injury-ravaged Western Force in their Super 14 clash in Wellington on Saturday.
The Hurricanes won 47-22 after leading 18-8 at half-time.
The Hurricanes scored seven tries through fullback Cory Jane, centre Ma’a Nonu, flank Michael Paterson, wing David Smith (2), prop Neemia Tialata and replacement Tyson Keats.
Flyhalf Willie Ripia kicked two conversions and a penalty while scrumhalf Piri Weepu added a conversion as did replacement No 10 Aaron Cruden.
The Force replied with tries by wing Dane Haylett-Perry, centre Josh Tatupu and replacement Chris O’Young.
Fullback James O’Connor kicked two penalties and a conversion.
The Hurricanes picked up five points for their efforts, while the Force left empty-handed.
In Round 3 action, the Hurricanes host the Lions in Wellington, while the Force face the Chiefs in Perth.
