Injuries force DHL WP U21 to change
Injuries have forced DHL Western Province U21 coach Jerome Paarwater to make three changes to his starting line-up to face the Xerox Golden Lions U21 at Emirates Airline Park on Friday.
In the backline Heinrich Buhr comes in for inside centre Ryan Oosthuizen, who is sidelined with a hip flexor and at flyhalf Aidynn Cupido gets an opportunity, with Dennis Cox ruled out due to a foot injury.
The only other change to the team that secured a 46-28 victory against Toyota Free State Cheetahs U21 at DHL Newlands last week, comes in the front row, where Hanno Snyman starts at hooker, in place of Percy Mngadi who has an ankle injury.
DHL Western Province U21 coach Jerome Paarwater has opted for five forwards on the replacements bench with hooker Granton Greaves, prop Ruben Terblanche and lock Eduard Zandberg all in the mix.
Paarwater said that despite the injury setbacks, his team are looking to make a step-up, in what will be a challenging match against a competitive Xerox Golden Lions U21 side, which kicks off at 14h15 on Friday.
“It was great to get our first win under our belt last week, but the players know that we can raise our standards even higher.
“We have lost a few players to injury, but I have confidence that those who have taken their place will be able to rise to the challenge,” he said.
