A slight quadriceps strain to Cameron Clark has forced a change to the Qantas Men’s Sevens for the second round of the 2013/14 HSBC Sevens World Series in Dubai this week.

Clark will be replaced by James Stannard who featured in the Qantas Men’s Sevens side that progressed to the Cup Final in the opening HSBC Sevens World Series round on the Gold Coast in October.

The 30-year-old former Western Force and Japanese Top League representative made his Australian Sevens debut back in 2010.

He was a member of the Australian side that won a Silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, and captained the side that won the London Sevens at Twickenham in the same year.

After returning from Japan in 2012, he represented Australia at four of the Sevens World Series Rounds and at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow this year. Dubai will be Stannard’s 14th cap.

Clark is expected to be fit for selection for rounds four and five of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Las Vegas and Wellington next January and February 2014.

The Qantas Men’s Sevens team was named in Pool B alongside Wales, Scotland and Spain for the Sevens World Series in Dubai which runs from 29 – 30 November 2013.

The revised Qantas Men’s Sevens squad for the second Sevens World Series round in Dubai is below:

Paul Asquith

James Stannard

Con Foley

Lewis Holland

Greg Jeloudev

Ed Jenkins (c)

Tom Lucas

Nick Malouf
