Isuzu Southern Kings Head Coach, Deon Davids, has named a strong squad for the team’s two-week Guinness PRO14 tour of Wales and Italy.

The Port Elizabeth-based side departs on Tuesday from South Africa on the back of a 38-28 win over Glasgow Warriors, making their first stop in Llanelli, Wales, where they will take on Scarlets on Saturday.

The team will then move on to Treviso, Italy, where they will face Benetton the following week before returning home.

“We are going to take the tour game by game,” the Head Coach said about the team’s goals for the two-week tour.

“We have a tough programme, leaving on Tuesday after resting on Monday. We will only have one training session in Wales before the match against Scarlets.

“Again, we will need to ensure that everything, on and off the field, is very carefully planned, but we do believe that we can get the results on this tour.”

The touring squad will include CJ Velleman as a first-time traveller with the side after making his return to the field on Saturday after a two-year injury layoff.

Also in the squad is the experienced Rossouw de Klerk, who has returned to full fitness after a chest injury prior to the start of the 2018/19 Guinness PRO14 season.

Centre, Tristan Blewett, who has been with the side for the past two weeks on a short-term loan from the Sharks, will also get an opportunity to travel with the side.
