James Haskell Cited following Super Rugby Match Cheetahs v Highlanders

James Haskell of the Highlanders has been cited for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.

Haskell is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (a) Punching or Striking when he struck Cheetahs player Justin Downey twice as he left a scrum that was being completed. There was a scuffle between several players immediately following the incident, which occurred in the 33rd Minute of the match between the Cheetahs and Highlanders at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on the 28th April.

The Referee for the match: Marius Jonker consulted his Assistant Referees and issued both a Yellow and White Card for the incident

Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the Red Card threshold for foul play

The Citing is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Mike Heron.
