Klipdrift and the Springboks reunite in new sponsorship deal
SA Rugby announced on Friday that iconic South African brandy, Klipdrift, has been named as a new sponsor of the Springbok rugby team, with the well-known brand unveiled as Official Associate Partner to the national team.
This is the second time Klipdrift has collaborated as the official brandy supplier to the Springboks, and SA Rugby CEO Jurie Roux said they were looking forward to working with the company once again.
“Klipdrift is no stranger to Springbok rugby and has collaborated with us in the past – a decade ago, to be exact,” said Roux.
“It is very pleasing to welcome them back into the family and we look forward to a successful partnership over the next few years.”
The sponsorship will run for three years and includes category exclusivity around the team, and the right to use Springbok players in appearances.
“As South Africa’s favourite brandy, Klipdrift has been a household name for generations,” said the brand’s Marketing Manager, Fred Leclezio.
“We’re incredibly excited to return to the Springbok family and put our support behind a new generation of friends.”
Leclezio added that the brand focuses on positive, South African stories of friendship, and he believed the strong bonds between Springbok teammates was something all fans admired: “I think South Africans will feel the sponsorship is a good fit.
“There are few things as proudly South African as Springbok rugby and Klipdrift, so it makes sense to bring them together. Our national team has the power to bring old friends together and to inspire new friendships, and that’s something Klipdrift can get behind 100%.”
