Midfielder Johnny Kotze and flanker Boom Prinsloo will start for the Vodacom Blue Bulls for the first time on Saturday when they take on Hino Valke in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge at Loftus Versfeld.

Kotze played Vodacom Super Rugby for the DHL Stormers and Prinsloo for the Toyota Cheetahs in recent seasons and will be keen to impress with their first appearances for their new province.

Coach Pote Human also included Shaun Adendorff for the first time this season. The former Junior Springbok, who was recruited from Boland this year, has recovered from injury and will be keen to push for a Super Rugby spot.

The Vodacom Blue Bulls lost their opening match against Steval Pumas but won convincingly against the Windhoek Draught Welwitschias last weekend.

“I am pretty pleased to have the likes of Johnny and Boom available as they are proven, players. It is also good to have Shaun back, but we should not forget about the guys who have performed well in Windhoek,” Human said.

“We have a tough opponent in the form of the Valke, who gave us a hard time in a warm-up match earlier this year, so we need to be at our best if we want to continue on the winning trail.

The team is Ulrich Beyers, Jade Sighing, Johnny Kotze, Joshua Stander, Rabs Maxwane, Tony Jantjies, Ivan van Zyl, Boom Prinsloo, Freddy Ngoza, Shaun Adendorff, Abongile Nonkontwana, Brian Leitch, Martin Dreyer, Edgar Marutllulle, Njubelo Gumede. Replacements: Corniel Els, Conrad van Vuuren, Marius Verwey, Marco van Staden, Theo Maree, Franco Naude, Divan Rossouw.
