Springbok coach Peter de Villiers has made one positional change to the side to face New Zealand in Wellington on Saturday. Patrick Lambie will swap places with Morne Steyn and will now be making all the calls from flyhalf while Steyn will hold the fort at fullback.

Sport24 confirmed the switch this morning and according to JJ Harmse from Beeld it comes as no surprise, as Lambie was making all the calls from flyhalf in the Boks final practice session on Thursday.

Steyn is not completely unfamiliar with the fullback position. Back in 2008 he played there for the Bulls in two matches. He also told Beeld that he has an idea of how Dan Carter’s head works, which will help him to gain the upper-hand over Carter’s deadly tactical kicks.

“I may not have played many games at fullback, but I’m confident that I could make a success of it,” Steyn told JJ Harmse.

Steyn will still be entrusted with the Boks’ goal-kicking duties.
