Lionel Cronje joins Bulls
The Blue Bulls Company Pty (Ltd) is pleased to announce that former South African u.20 player Lionel Cronjé will be transferred to the Blue Bulls after successful negotiations between the Blue Bulls and Western Province. He signed a two year deal with the Blue Bulls Company Pty (Ltd).
The 22 year old fly half/fullback has been playing for Western Province in the Currie Cup and the Stormers in Super Rugby in the last two seasons, but is currently recovering from a knee surgery. He will join the Vodacom Bulls in November this year on a contract that will initially run till 31 October 2013.
Cronjé, who also played Currie Cup rugby for the Free State Cheetahs as a junior player, said he appreciated the time Western Province has invested in him on and off the field.
“The opportunity at the Bulls is one that I am looking forward to immensely. I would like to believe that my best years as a player are still ahead of me and that I could become an asset to the Bulls and take my game to the next level with them.”
Heyneke Meyer, Head: Rugby at the Blue Bulls Company Pty (Ltd) said of the signing.
“We are happy to finally have Lionel on our books. We have been looking to secure his services for a while now and I am very pleased with the news. Lionel will play an important role in our plans for the next couple of years,” Meyer said.
