INJURY UPDATE – ABSA CURRIE CUP ROUND THREE
The Xerox Golden Lions medical group have released a report ahead of the team’s match against the Cell C Sharks in Durban this Saturday.
There is just one new injury to report, following last weekend’s win over the Steval Pumas.
Centre Harold Vorster has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the match.
Head coach Johan Ackermann sees the injury as a big blow but believes Vorster will be able to make an impact upon his return to play during the 2016 season.
“Harold will be a big loss for us and the injury is rather unfortunate as he has had a great season and did well at both 12 and 13 respectively. I also believe he made huge strides this year and was in good form throughout so we are disappointed by this loss,” Ackermann said.
“We would like wish him all the best with his recovery and I know that he will come back and make a big contribution when he returns to action in six months.”
Vorster will undergo surgery this week.
In other injury news, Andries ‘Boeboes’ Coetzee is continuing to progress well after sustaining a toe injury in the build-up to the Absa Currie Cup. He will begin agility training this week and is expected to make a comeback around mid-September.
Derick Minnie is also making good progress on his knee injury and will make his return to play during the 2016 Vodacom Super Rugby competition.
