Local school, Kingdom Kids wins R10 000 in Steval Pumas banner competition
The Steval Pumas Schools Banner Competition, sponsored by Crossing SUPERSPAR, saw hundreds of pupils from eight schools proudly waving their homemade banners in support of their rugby heroes at Mbombela Stadium last Saturday evening. Although the result against the Vodacom Blue Bulls wasn’t what the fans wanted, the children turned the match into a very special night for the Steval Pumas and the greater Lowveld community.
The children of Kingdom Kids Academy came out tops, winning R10 000 for their school courtesy of Crossing SUPERSPAR. On Thursday morning, the representatives from the Steval Pumas and Crossing SUPERSPAR staff visited the school to hand over the cheque and congratulate the children and teachers personally. The money will prove to be a huge help in buying educational toys for the school’s indoor play therapy area.
“We would like to extend a big thank you to all of the participating schools, teachers and parents for making this possible. The team felt the support of the children throughout the game. It’s a great privilege to have our kids supporting local rugby and we look forward to many more initiatives such as these in the future,” said Steval Pumas coach MJ Mentz.
Chris Christie, general manager of Crossing SUPERSPAR, added that the store was proud to support local schools and the community at large.
“We would not exist without the support of our community, so it’s important for us to always recognise this and give back wherever we can. We are especially proud to play a small part in bettering the education of our children through this exciting and fun initiative,” Christie said.
