Kobus Marais to start at flyhalf for Vodacom Blue Bulls u21
Kobus Marais will start at pivot for the Vodacom Blue Bulls Under-21 team on Friday in their Absa Under-21 Provincial Championship match against the MTN Golden Lions Under-21’s in Pretoria.
Travis Ismaiel, Tony Jantjies, Wiaan Liebenberg, Jacques du Plessis and Paul Willemse have been drafted into the Vodacom Blue Bulls Currie Cup squad, forcing coach Nollis Marais into a number of changes to the team that won against the Border Bulldogs in East London last weekend.
Jessie Kriel and Marais are elevated from the Under-19 team at fullback and flyhalf respectively and Jermaine Kleinsmith will start on the wing in backline changes to last week’s side.
Clyde Davids returns to the pack at number 8, with Nardus van der Walt and Shaun Adendorff the new flankers. The 2013 Junior Springbok lock pairing of Dennis Visser and Jannes Kirsten combine again, this time in blue, while Jaco Visagie takes over the captaincy armband from Liebenberg.
Kick-off is at 16h30 in Friday 9 August at Loftus B.
The Blue Bulls Under-21 team is: Jesse Kriel, Jade Stiglingh, Dries Swanepoel, Burger Odendaal, Jermaine Kleinsmith, Kobus Marais, Rudi van Rooyen, Clyde Davids, Nardus van der Walt, Shaun Adendorff, Dennis Visser, Jannes Kirsten, Hencus van Wyk, Jaco Visagie (c), Andrew Beerwinkel.
