McInnes Wilson Lawyers Brisbane City have named their side to take on Bond University Queensland Country in the annual Andy Purcell Cup clash at Ballymore Stadium this Sunday.

City coaches have made six changes to the side for their final match of the 2016 Buildcorp National Rugby Championship, as they look to defend the Purcell Cup for the third year running.

In the forwards, Reds hooker Andrew Ready returns to the starting side after missing last weekend due to injury, with Matt Mafi shifting to the bench. Brothers work horse Luke Beauchamp has moved from the back row to the second row, with David Findlay-Henaway moving to the bench, to allow flanker Adam Korczyk his first start for the season.

In the backs, Alex Gibbon returns to the starting wing after missing last weekend due to a quad injury, while Toby White has moved to inside centre and Junior Laloifi comes onto the bench for his first match in 2016. Laloifi missed the majority of the season after suffering a hand injury while playing for Sunnybank in BLK Queensland Premier Rugby.

City head coach Rod Seib said: “City v Country matches always have something special about them. There’s that competitive tension that builds up at Ballymore throughout the week as both sides prepare for the match. You always play that little bit harder when you’re up against your mates and many of these players spent much of the year playing alongside each other at either club or Super Rugby level.

“What a great way to end the season, playing for bragging rights, against your mates, in front of your family, friends and fans at one of the best suburban grounds in Australia.”

Fans are encouraged to make the most of the family friendly kick-off time and get to Ballymore Stadium this Sunday afternoon to watch some entertaining, attacking Rugby. As is tradition with games at Ballymore, fans will be allowed on the field at half time and after the match. Young fans are also encouraged to join the centre-field tunnel to welcome the teams onto the field prior to kick off.

Brisbane City plays Queensland Country at Ballymore Stadium this Sunday at 2:00pm. Tickets are available at www.redsrugby.com.au. The match will also be broadcast live on Fox Sports.
