Merensky High School Stop Rhino Poaching 7s Rugby Tournament
Merensky High school started their “Stop Rhino Poaching” 7s tournament last weekend(9-10 Aug) at Merensky.
This was the first of three qualifying tournaments being held before the finals taking place at Skukuza in the KNP on the weekend of 18/19 October.
The first ever 7’s tournament to be held in a national park any where in the world.
The results from this past weekend were;
Shield final: Merensky 2 vs Merensky Agri (12-24)
Bowl final: Heidelberg Volkskool vs PHS (7-24)
Plate final: Merensky 1 vs Wonderboom (29-5)
Cup final: Die Anker vs Nylstroom (21-20)
The following teams qualified for the Skukusa finals – Die Anker; Nylstroom; Merensky and Wonderboom.
The next tournament will take place at Merensky on the weekend of 23/24 August and some big name schools will be participating, HTS Middelburg, Middelburg, Noordheuwel, Florida and Garsfontein. Please support this very worthy cause.
