Harri Millard has been rewarded for his fine form this season with a new long-term contract to remain at Cardiff Blues.

The dynamic centre, who made his regional debut against Ulster in 2016, has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Wales’ Capital Region, in which he has made 13 appearances.

And the 22-year-old has become the latest player to pledge their future to Cardiff Arms Park despite interest from elsewhere.

Millard said: “It was an easy decision to stay at Cardiff Blues. All of my friends are here, there are
some really classy players and I’ve played quite a lot of rugby this season.

“There’s really good competition in the centre, which is great for the squad. We all train well and are desperate to keep each other out of the jersey so it’s really good for the team and also our own personal development.

“I knew I had to take my opportunity earlier this season and it has been great to play in some massive games and against world-renowned players.

“Hopefully there will be more of the same next season. The future is really bright, I’m looking forward to playing with the boys for a few more years and hopefully contributing to a successful season next year.”

Millard, who has represented Wales at Under-20 level and Sevens has produced several eye-catching performances this season with his strength and agility coming to the fore.

John Mulvihill has been impressed with the way the Mountain Ash product has taken his chances this season and believes he is thriving upon the competition for places in midfield.

Mulvihill said: “Harri is a very talented young home-grown player who got his opportunity this year and excelled at the highest level.

“He’s a real attacking threat, who has X factor with the ball and is a competent decision marker in defence.

“Harri has worked hard on and off the field to deserve his extend contract. He’s certainly a player that brings real excitement to our team and someone destined for further honours.”
