England Sevens captain Tom Mitchell returns to Simon Amor’s setup having missed the opening round of the HSBC Sevens World Series through an injury suffered at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The leading points scorer watched on as Phil Burgess captain England to a third place finish in Australia, and is joined by Jeff Williams who also returns from injury to bolster a side looking to win the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens for a third time in five years.

“Tom’s a great player, and was rightfully nominated for the player of the year award last season, so to have him back in training has been a massive boost,” head coach Amor.

“It is also good to have Jeff Williams back in the squad after recovering from a knee injury that saw him miss a large part of last season. Jeff will add pace, power and energy to our team.”
