MORE RADIO COVERAGE ADDED FOR 2019 VODAFONE SUPER RUGBY SEASON
Australian Rugby fans won’t miss a minute of the action on home soil under new radio broadcast arrangements for the 2019 Vodafone Super Rugby season announced by Rugby Australia today.
Live radio coverage will be available for every match played in Australia in the 2019 season through the combination of a new partnership between Rugby Australia and Crocmedia, and the continuation of a long-term partnership with ABC Grandstand.
Crocmedia has signed a two-year radio rights deal with Rugby Australia and will deliver live radio coverage of all NSW Waratahs and Melbourne Rebels home matches under its new broadcast productSuper Rugby Live Radio. Calls of all Rebels home matches will air on 1377 SEN+ in Melbourne and Waratahs home matches will be broadcast on the Super Radio Network in NSW (2SM in Sydney).
Crocmedia will also provide live coverage of all domestic Qantas Wallabies Test matches, starting in 2019.
Crocmedia Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Craig Hutchison said Super Rugby fans will be impressed with the fantastic new content in the 2019 season.
“We are thrilled to add Super Rugby to our radio line-up and innovate across Melbourne and NSW.
“Super Rugby is an exciting sport and fits perfectly into our whole of sport and live play-by-play agenda,” Hutchison said.
ABC Grandstand will continue to be the home of Vodafone Super Rugby on the radio with Australian home matches as well as away matches in New Zealand and Japan to feature across a mix of ABC platforms, including ABC Radio, the ABC Listen app and Grandstand DAB+.
ABC Radio listeners in Canberra were excited by the news that veteran Rugby caller Tim Gavel has announced his return to the airwaves to call all Brumbies home matches in 2019, while Quentin Hullwill once again be the voice of Queensland Reds home matches and Andrew Moore will lead the commentary team for NSW Waratahs home games.
ABC Grandstand has also renewed its partnership with Rugby.com.au for the 2019 season, which enables all Australian home matches to be broadcast on Rugby.com.au Radio. This coverage will also be available on the new Rugby Xplorer app.
