THE three surviving Midlands clubs in this season’s National Colts Cup have been kept apart in the quarter-final draw.Old Northamptonians, who were beaten cup finalists in 2006, face a trip to Kent to play Thanet Wanderers while Burton and Bedford Blues Athletic will both have home ties.
Burton, who beat Old Brodleians in the fifth round, will now host Carlisle while Bedford Blues Athletic will entertain the winners of the delayed Kingsbridge v Tonbridge Juddians tie.
In the National Colts Plate Paviors face a trip to Yorkshire to play Pocklington in the quarter-finals and the winners of the delayed fifth round tie between Market Harborough and Whitchurch will travel to Sheffield.
The quarter-finals of both competitions are scheduled to be played on or before March 16.
The National Colts Cup was introduced for the 1997/98 season as part of the East Midlands RU’s centenary celebrations.
The National Colts Plate, a competition for teams between in the first three rounds of the Cup, was introduced for the 1999/2000 season.
Both competitions are still organised and administered by the East Midlands RU.
