The CEO of Mpumalanga Rugby (Pty) Ltd, Pieter Burger, would like to welcome three new players to the Steval Pumas family.

This week the former Lowvelder, Rassie van Vuuren (Laerskool Bergland and Hoërskool Nelspruit pupil) confirmed his return to the province. Van Vuuren, a 31 year-old, 1,89m hooker, currently playing for the French club, Atlantique Stade Rochelais, is no stranger to the Puma structures. He played Craven Week for the province in 2003 and represented the Currie Cup Pumas team in 2007-2008, where after he continued his rugby career in France playing in the French top 14 and Heineken Cup.

Joining Van Vuuren is two speedsters from Western Province. JP Lewis (24), a former Paul Roos learner (2010) and Devon Williams (24), a former Paarl Boy’s High scholar, will soon be seen in the Puma pink jersey. Both players furthered their careers through the Western Province junior rugby structures to senior rugby. Lewis is a former SA Schools winger/fullback and Williams has three Stormer Super Rugby matches and five Super Rugby points to his name (Super Rugby debut in 2014). Williams is comfortable on wing and full back. Both players are part of the current Western province team whom recently beat the Pumas on home ground, not so long ago.
