New Zealand Heartland XV Coach Barry Matthews says the team has gelled well since coming together this week.
“These are the best players from the Mitre 10 Heartland Championship who are now getting the chance to represent a national side.
“We have selected a starting fifteen we think will work best against Marist this Saturday, and there might be a different lineup against the Fijian sides next week.
“We have selected Kieran Coll as the new Captain of the Heartland XV. Kieran has played Mitre 10 Cup for Hawkes Bay and has captained South Canterbury for the last couple of years. We wanted to bring in a new captain while Peter Rowe, who has captained the side for a number of years, was still in the team and could support Kieran.”
