New Zealand Rugby congratulates Investec Super Rugby champion Crusaders
New Zealand Rugby has today congratulated back-to-back Investec Super Rugby champions, the Crusaders after they beat the Lions 37 – 18 at AMI Stadium, in Christchurch tonight.
The Crusaders, playing their first Final at home since 2008, were cheered on by an electric sell-out crowd of 19,600.
New Zealand Rugby Chief Executive Steve Tew congratulated the Crusaders on re-claiming the Investec Super Rugby trophy.
“As they have done time and time again, the Crusaders have confirmed their status as one of the best teams of southern hemisphere rugby.
‘I want to congratulate Sam and the boys on an outstanding effort both tonight and throughout the season.
“It was a fitting way to farewell Wyatt Crockett who became the competition’s first ever double centurion. The win is also a fantastic way to send off outgoing CEO Hamish Riach who has been a staunch and unapologetic leader for the Super Rugby club for 17 years. We wish Hamish well for his next adventures, and I am sure he will savour tonight’s result.”
