New Zealand Rugby congratulates Sir Bill Beaumont
New Zealand Rugby congratulates Sir Bill Beaumont on being awarded a Knighthood for services to rugby in The Queen’s New Year’s honours list.
Beaumont has been the Chairman of World Rugby for the past two years and has contributed more than five decades of service to rugby.
New Zealand Rugby Chairman Brent Impey said Beaumont is an astute leader and thoroughly deserving of this recognition.
“This is a very deserved honour for Sir Bill and his family. His contribution to rugby has been immense and in his current role as World Rugby Chair he has shown a firm commitment to improving how our game is governed,” said Impey.
Beaumont played 34 matches for England, played and managed the British and Irish Lions and has held several roles on World Rugby committees and councils for the past decade. He was inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame in 2003.
