Ranking are based on performances against other top schools from the
North Vaal region. There are many top teams but these rankings are
based on strength against strength. Those teams who do not play much
against top schools may be brilliant teams but unfortunately you can
only evalaute yourself against top competition if you play against
them.

Waterkloof are ranked nr 1 after continuous massive victories against
macro schools as well as an impressive classic clash victory against
Monument. Waterkloof is the number 1 team every team wants to beat and
only Monument and Transvalia have succeed other have fallen far short
with massive losses.

A well balanced team with power skill and excellent coaching. Their
skill and just the fact that they tactically know how to play each
game and read opponents makes them a brilliant team. They take the
award for “the team everyone wants to beat”

Monument are Nu power champions and except for one loss and one
victory against Waterkloof they have an impressive win record with no
losses. A deadly backline and strong pack of forwards who dominate and
when their forwards who usually dominate take control their backline
will run riot against any team as Waterkloof experienced in the
Nupower semis. Only Transvalia’s forwards had the ability this season
to control their impressive pack of forwards. The award for the team
“who is gonna give you a rugby lesson” goes to Monument as every team
who play them know they are gonna walk off with a new lesson they have
learnt in rugby.

Transvalia are ranked 3rd with only two losses the season and is the
only team to have beaten Waterkloof on their home ground and beating 5
of the top schools on their way to the Nupower final against Monument
narrowly loosing by 3 points in the last 3 minutes of the match.

Transvalia’s largest league match defeat this season has been by only
3 points and no team can boast this year with such a record against
the top macro schools. Transvalia who are know as the giant killers
lost a well fought match against Helpmekaar after Helpmekaar kicked a conversion after the final whistle to win the match at one of the most poorly refereed games of the season.

A team who this year has stood up
out of the large schools as a force to be reckoned with and most macro schools are afraid to take on. Transvalia takes the award for the “Surprise team of the year and most impressive progress”.

HTS Middelburg the powerhouse of the Pumas “rooi bulle”are ranked 4th
after keeping most macros schools a tough run for their money.

Eldoriange is a team from the Pretoria who is always in the shadow of
Waterkloof and always looses narrowly against them are ranked 5th.

This team is takes the award for the “gentlemen of rugby” They play
honest rugby with a passion and have the ability not to let the other
teams get under their skins.

Eldo’s have an impressive pack of forwards with excellent flanks who
will dominate 9 out of 10 of the Macro schools packs. Take Monument
and Waterkloof out of the equation and you suddenly see that this
Eldorainge team will be the team everyone wants to beat. Semi
finalists in the macro schools puts them in the top 5.

Menlopark, quarterfinalists in the macro schools is a deserved 6th
after impressive wins throughout the season.

Helpmekaar is the surprise school in the ranking even though they do
not play much against macro schools they can beat any team on the day.
They thrashed all Lions large schools opposition to win the Lions
large schools without sweating and no team has scored more than 1 try
against them in a match. A conversion against Transvalia after the
whistle gave them victory against one of the top schools. This schools
needs to start playing against Macro schools and can become a
powerhouse in rugby and has to start running with the big boys. The
award for the “most underrated team” must go to Helpmekaar and will
definitely cause a few major upsets if Macro schools are willing to
play against them.

The “Dissapointment award” must go to Florida who have so much
potential and a lightning fast backline with impressive skills did not
perform well this year. In their defence they can up against two of
the bests teams in the Nupower in their pool games namely Transvalia
and Waterkloof a victory against one of these teams could have changed
their whole season.

As the season closes our countries youth pool of rugby players is
looking healthy and the season next year is awaited with excitement.
