Paddy Ryan re-signs with NSW Waratahs
The NSW Waratahs have today announced that prop Paddy Ryan has signed for the 2016 season, his sixth with the club.
NSW Waratahs CEO Greg Harris said it was a great result that a player of Paddy’s talent and accomplishments had chosen to re-sign for another year.
“It’s a testament to the culture of the club and the ability of the coaching staff to develop players that guys like Paddy choose to continue their careers here,” Harris said.
“Paddy made his Super Rugby debut for NSW and he has been an important part of the club’s recent successes, accordingly it is great to see him recommit to us.
“The Waratahs have invested in Paddy’s development as a player as he has come through the NSW development pathway and the rewards have been mutually beneficial. We look forward to this continuing into 2016.”
Ryan, who began his professional rugby career with the NSW Waratahs in 2011 and made his debut the same year against the Chiefs, hails from Tamworth in the state’s north-west and played his junior rugby with the Tamworth Pirates and St Joseph’s College, Hunters Hill.
“I’m a proud New South Welshman and there are more exciting times ahead for us here,” Ryan said.
“The club has changed a lot during my time here and I am pleased that my role in helping build a legacy will continue.
“The signing of Daryl Gibson as the Head Coach for next year and the re-signing of a number of our key players provides us all with plenty of confidence for the future.”
2016 Head Coach, Daryl Gibson, said Ryan is an important part of the Waratahs squad.
“This is a great opportunity for Paddy to step up and establish himself as the senior tight head prop in the team, and re-signing to the Waratahs demonstrates his commitment to the team’s values and culture.” Gibson said.
“With a number of senior leaders in the squad moving on, Paddy’s experience will be very important for the broader squad to draw upon.”
