Players cement top stats rankings – Vodacom Rugby App Review: After Round 12
With only five rounds left before the 2015 Vodacom SupeRugby playoffs the top performing players in the competition are starting to cement their places in the top stats on the Vodacom Rugby App.
Springbok flyhalf Handre Pollard is opening a considerable gap at the top of the Points category scoring 143 points for the Vodacom Bulls over 12 rounds of rugby.
His closest rival is New Zealand pivot Beauden Barrett of the Hurricanes with 110 points with the Brumbies’ Christian Lealiifano and Lions flyhalf Elton Jantjies sharing third place with 103.
Stormers flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis is the third South African at the top with the 101 points he scored so far this season.
Bulls winger Francois Hougaard and Cell C Sharks flanker Marcell Coetzee represent the country in the Tries category with scoring five apiece.
The top try-scorer after 12 rounds of Vodacom SupeRugby is Highlanders flyer Waisake Naholo of the Highlanders with eight, while the Hurricanes’ TJ Perenara and Julian Savea scored seven and six respectively.
Equally influential are the men that made the tries happen with Toyota Cheetahs fullback Willie le Roux sharing the top spot in terms of Try Assists with the Waratahs’ Israel Folau and Nicholas White of the Brumbies with six apiece.
A constant presence at the top of the positive statistics, Folau also tops the Metres Run category with 962 metres.
In second place Bulls fullback Jesse Kriel, one of the rising stars in the competition, covered only a metre less than the Australian, with Waisake Naholo of the Highlanders third running 849 metres.
Dazzling Stormers fullback Cheslin Kolbe is in third place with 777m with James Lowe of the Chiefs fifth with 745m.
Stormers centre Damian de Allende’s top-ranking in the Defenders Beaten bracket and third spot on in terms of Clean Breaks is proof of his worth in his side’s campaign this season.
The big centre made 15 clean breaks this season, only two less than the leading player Naholo, while the Stormers player has a clear lead in terms of defenders beaten.
De Allende has outsmarted 46 defenders this season with Folau following behind him with 36 with Naholo and Savea on 33 each while the Blues’ Charles Piutau is on 30.
Lions captain Warren Whiteley has been a mammoth on defence this season making 159 tackles compared to the 122 by his nearest rival, the Cheetahs’ Boom Prinsloo.
They are followed by Michael Hooper (Waratahs) with 121, while the Chiefs’ Sam Cane and Warwick Tecklenburg of the Lions are equal on 119.
