The Boogey Man, Warrick Gelant, was instrumental in the Blue Bulls turning the tides on the Pumas at Loftus Versfeld on Friday night with the Bulls scoring eight tries to four in their 52-32 victory.

Gelant scored only one of the tries but he stepped and weaved his way past numerous defenders to keep the Pumas defense guessing.

He had a perfect partner in the late replacement Travis Ismaiel who showed just how a dangerous runner he is.

The Pumas, outgunned by the Bulls three-quarters, never raised the white flag and tried right to the end.

They had the upper hand in the scrums for most of the game and their forwards never took a step back.

Gelant made a strong challenge for Springbok colours once again and is the top try-scorer in the Currie Cup.

Captain Burger Odendaal again impressed in midfield with Johnny Kotzé the only back not to trouble the scorers.

Jannie Stander, Willie Engelbrecht, Selom Gavor and Frankie Herne earned the Pumas a bonus point for four tries.

Scorers:

Pumas: Tries: Jannie Stander, Willie Engelbrecht, Selom Gavor and Frankie Herne. Conversions: Kobus Marais (3). Penalties: Marais (2).
