Pumas score brilliant away victory against Griquas
The Steval Pumas scored a brilliant away victory by beating the Griquas 27-21 in Kimberley on Sunday which lifted them away from the foot of the Currie Cup table.
This away victory, made possible by a brilliant first half in which they scored three tries, saw them overtake the Lions on the log.
It was a game of two halves and tries by Trompie Pretorius, Chris Cloete and Kwezi Mona helped them to a healthy 24-10 lead at the break.
The momentum changed in the second half and Griquas fought back to settle for a losing bonus point in the dying seconds.
The ever-improving Pumas showed some steel, particularly in the second half with a brilliant defensive performance which kept Griquas at bay.
It was a stellar team performance with the pack showing their mettle, particularly in the first half.
