Samu Kerevi (Queensland Reds) and Nick Phipps (NSW Waratahs) have today been ruled out of the Qantas Wallabies’ June Arvo Test Rugby Series.

Kerevi suffered an ankle injury during Queensland’s game against the Blues in Samoa, but will not require surgery.

It’s a similar injury for Waratahs scrumhalf Nick Phipps, who injured his ankle in last weekend’s game against the Highlanders in Dunedin. The 52-cap veteran will also not require surgery and will complete his recovery in Sydney.

Uncapped scrumhalf Jake Gordon (NSW Waratahs) and 2016 vice-captain Rob Horne (NSW Waratahs) have been called into the squad, and will join the Qantas Wallabies in Melbourne later today.

Qantas Wallabies coach Michael Cheika said: “It’s really unfortunate for Samu and Nick but a great opportunity for Jake and Rob to come into the squad.”

“Jake was involved in our camp in Canberra earlier this year and has really stepped up for the Waratahs in Super Rugby. He’s another uncapped player but it will be good to expose him to the Test environment.

“Rob has been a strong leader in our Wallabies environment and his experience will be invaluable in this relatively inexperienced squad.

“We really want to put a strong emphasis on leadership in this team and we have some young leaders in this squad who are continuing to develop,” Cheika said.

All three Qantas Wallabies June Tests will kick-off at the family-friendly time of 3pm AEST – the first time in the professional era that all June Tests have featured afternoon kick-offs.

All three matches will be screened LIVE in High Definition and ad-break free during play on FOX SPORTS 501 from 2.30pm AEST and will be available to stream via Foxtel Go (for Foxtel subscribers).

The three Tests will also be screened LIVE in High Definition on TEN and WIN Network and on tenplay.com.au from 2.30pm AEST in all markets.
