Queensland U20s head coach Brad Thorn has named his side for their Round 2 Super U20s Championship clash against the Western Force in Perth this Saturday, 4 March.

Only two changes have been made to the starting XV that defeated the Melbourne Rebels U20s 30-13 at Crosby Park in Round 1.

Sunnybank lock Seru Masirewa Ganita has been promoted to the starting side, with Angus Blyth moving to the reserves. Angus Scott-Young has moved from Number 8 to blindside flanker in place of Callum Ball, with Patrick Tafa earning his first start for the Queensland U20s at the back of the scrum.

The Queensland backline remains unchanged from Round 1, while in the reserves Easts prop James Gall and Brothers backrower Fraser McReight have been called into the side.

“We’re only one game into the competition and while it was a solid hit out, we’re heading into this match against the Force with a lot to improve on. We have a lot of hard work ahead of us,” Thorn said.

“The Force were met with tough, rainy conditions in Sydney last weekend against a strong NSW side and were only just denied the win.

“We’re in for a tough game and a good challenge in Perth against a side that is a lot stronger than that of 2016.”

The Queensland U20s v Western Force U20s match will be live streamed via www.redsrugby.com.au, kick-off at 4:00 pm AEST.
