REINACH HAND INJURY ADDS TO SHARKS’ WOES
Sharks’ scrumhalf Cobus Reinach has broken his hand and will play no further part in the Durban-based outfit’s Australasian tour.
Reinach sustained the injury in the first-half of last Friday’s 48-15 loss to the Highlanders in Dunedin and, although he completed the half, he was replaced during the break by Conrad Hoffmann.
According to Netwerk24, Sharks boss Gary Gold has called up hooker Kyle Cooper as Reinach’s replacement as he has enough scrumhalf cover in Hoffmann and Stefan Ungerer with the squad in New Zealand.
Reinach’s injury is a big setback for the Sharks who have been struggling in recent weeks.
They are currently languishing in eleventh position on the table and have lost their last four matches to the Crusaders, Lions, Bulls and Highlanders.
Their last victory was registered against the Force in Durban in Round 7.
The Sharks take on tournament pace-setters the Hurricanes in Wellington on Saturday.
